Starry Cradle to the Grave

Welcome to what we hope will be an entertaining Adventurer’s League style story. Players will create a character and then prepare for adventure, but there are some restrictions with respect to races allowed as will soon become apparent.

Overview

The first session

Everyone is a child and growing up in an orphanage, spending the mornings in schooling and the afternoon pretending to be adventurers.

The Orphan party sneaks out of the orphanage to “start” their adventure. as they make their way through the city, they should spot someone following them. It is their younger brother or sister from the orphanage. The tag along. Have the characters name and describe this little sibling. He/She will be coming with them.

Somewhere alone the way they meet the urchins (perhaps over a found treasure (a small bag of copper coins) and it becomes a quickly heated combat between children, sticks, rocks, etc. because the enemy force trying to overthrow the kingdom and your castle (the orphanage). In that ensuing fight and aftermath, one of your “sisters/brothers” - the tag along - ends up lost as a casualty. As the guards break it up and everyone mourns the loss of one of the children. The urchins scatter and you mourn the lost of your brother/sister.

End session with the funeral of the lost child.

Second Session

(LEVEL 4, approximately 13 years later)

This session is the build up to being trapped in the domain. They have all grown up and gone their separate ways. but have returned to the city of Waterdeep due to an event. This leads to looking for the missing orphanage and children.

The reseach, investigation, inquiry, and perhaps they encounter a few of the urchins who tease them for losing something, the combat ending with a mist rolling through and the city of Waterdeep disappearing.

And then they find the “orphanage” and a little boy on its doorstep.

Third Session

When the adventurers first see the child, that child is still young, but as the child realizes the adventurers are older, they grow up as well when no one is looking, but they dont have any knowledge of adventures - or what is happening.

They always been “at the orphanage”

This entire third act is attempting to escape from the domain, return the orphanage and save the children

And put their friends soul to rest
